Parkinson's disease
Parkinson's disease is the result of a gradual decrease in dopaminergic neurons in the brain. Hyperbaric oxygen exposure is thought to inhibit the decline of dopaminergic neurons, leading to an improvement in Parkinson's disease due to increased oxidative metabolism in dopaminergic neurons.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy reduces inflammation, oxygenates the whole body, stimulates the growth of new healthy blood vessels and restores stem cells. Research shows that HBOT can improve neurological outcomes by increasing enzymes in the body that protect cells and prevent neuronal damage. It has also been shown to reduce depression, anxiety and tremor in patients with Parkinson's disease.
